I'm in the mood...

to CRAFT, that is. Do you ever get the overwhelming urge to create with your hands? I do, and the mood came on me this week. I have a few big painting projects I have been wanting to tackle and even purchased the primer and paint...just to be thwarted by the oppressive rain and humidity...blehhh! I couldn't shake the urge, however, so I traipsed all around (Michael's, Walmart, Dollar Tree and the fabulous Hobby Lobby) gathering supplies for a simple craft. But-it took so long collecting what I needed (and some goodies I didn't) that it was time to pick Jos up from school, aide in homework, cook dinner (yummy tortilla soup-Hooray for Cinco de Mayo) and bundle the kids off to bed. Well...sigh...except for the youngest one. Once he's off, maybe I can finally tap into the mood and create.

Do you ever feel in the mood? How do you make it all happen? Just wonderin'...

I'm taking a Wilton (cake decorating) course right now. How do I make it happen? A good neighbor who trades babysitting with me while our husbands are away!

I feel like I'm ALWAYS in this mood...and it's almost impossible to get anything done...always interrupted, etc...priorities, huh?!

Ha, my crafty moods come when I feel guilty for not being a good wife or mom! I sit and read Better Homes & Gardens when I'm in the mood to craft because it's cheaper and I know whatever I make will be a disaster!

I cheat and turn on a movie. When in good mom mode, I pull out some water colors and an old poster board so we can both paint. Sometimes I wait until she's asleep. Honestly, I've basically given up on a few hobbies (sewing, scrapbooking) in favor of those that are easier to start and stop and don't require a whole room to spread out (knitting, sometimes acrylic painting). Good luck! Remember it's good to take a little time for you, and it actually can make you a better wife & mommy.

ps-so how did the magnets go for you? They sound complicated, but really they're not. I mean, heck, I make them, don't I? If you need any help, just give me a shout.

I wish I were more creative. I need to tap into your creativity! I can't wait to see some pics of what you end up creating!
