A Week of 1sts

This past week was a busy one-caused by the 1st day of school. Josiah started the First Grade. My baby is officially a big boy. He was very excited about the first day. His teacher, Ms. Hegwood seems like a lot of fun. The classroom is decorated with all things under the sea. Josiah loved it! Unfortunately, his enthusiasm has waned slightly. The call of the unknown fun he thinks he is missing at home forces him to whine and beg to stay home daily. If only he would realize cleaning the house, doing laundry and other mundane tasks are the unknown fun he's missing.

Another first occurred this week. Gavin received his first stitches. You would think with my three beasties and how crazy they are this would have already occurred, but I believe their poor guardian angels have been working overtime. Gavin climbed down his bunk-bed and got his head walloped by the ceiling fan. Our good friend, and ward member, came by to take a look and eventually stitched him up. MAJOR crying, thrashing around and 3 stitches later, Gavin thinks his stitches are pretty cool and loves telling all who will listen about the "lots and lots of bloooood all over!".

Kind of a silly first is little Gunnison. He has sure been cracking me and Kit up. This week he's taken to laughing evilly. It is quite reminiscent of my niecy, Georgia. He cackles as he runs away- "I running, ha ha ha!" or makes fun of his brothers- "No candy for you, ha ha ha!" It is so funny...and such a grown up thing to do. Little stinker is growing so quickly!!

Kind-of a boring post, but at least I posted!!! Whew, I about killed myself with the effort!

I have been checking and checking...a bit stalkerish, I admit. *shrug* And, I was rewarded by a bright, new, shiny post!! I was pleased beyond belief!! :)
What a whirlwind week for the Applegate clan. I heard about poor little Gav. What a brave boy! His story broke my heart. I am glad that he has emotionally recovered and is proud of his "manly" stitches. (that's the Gav I know and love ;)
I am so proud of Jos. He looks so cute in his little uniform. Hopefully, the call from home quiets a bit and he can get into a comfortable school routine...we can hope, right?? :)
I am still giggling at the thought of sweet Gun becoming devilish. What a character. Just the thought of him makes me smile.
Give all of them kisses and hugs from Auntie. You are all dearly missed and thought of often.

Ahhh, you made my day. I keep thinking it's a good think you and Steph don't have a location tracker widget like I do, or else you'd surely think all I do all day is sit around and check y'all's blogs (which, unfortunately, is not that far from the truth).

yay! yay! for big boy Jos! I bet he just loves his Under the Sea classroom, that's right up his alley! He just so grown-up is kills me!

Poor little Gav! So good that you had such a helpful friend around to help! He seems to be taking it in a very stiff-upper-lip Gavin-esc sort of way.

The mere mental picture of Gun manically laughing makes me grin. There's nothing I enjoy so much as an amusingly evil nephew.

I'm so glad you took the effort to blog. I have been trying, but unlike you have been unsuccessful. I loved your blog. Your boys are soo cute. Josiah cracks me up about the "fun" he is missing at home, really it's sweet.
WOW! Gavin is SO BRAVE! Glad he is doing better and thinks that his stitches are cool. I would have been scared out of my wits.
As for Gunner, "ha, ha, ha"! :)
Again, glad you blogged!

Thanks for taking the effort! They are getting so big. I can't believe you have a first grader. How fun! I can't even imagine Bella being a first grader.

Yay for the first day of school (ours is tomorrow, we woke up early and did a "dry run" this morning and the kids were disappointed that they couldn't stay...we'll see if that's still the case tomorrow morning ;P

Your little men are so stinking cute! How I wish I could say that I enjoy rhoane's newest craze...but it happens to be 'hitting', I'm not delighted in the slightest!

Oh, and stitches...every little boy's Brag/mother's Nightmare...poor guy!

Liberty! This is so fun! What an exciting day for your boys. You are a great mamma like your sisters and your own mom! Can I be a regular reader? I have a pitiful blog that started out for family, but now I'm inviting friends. I'll send you one.

Love, Mary
