LOVE

I know it isn't even February, but I have been thinking a lot about love...

I love LOVE! I do. I am a romantic at heart. My favorite books are those with happy endings full of romance and yes, love. I adore how there are so many different kinds of love. Family love-the worry, loyalty and closeness we feel towards members of our families. Parental love-full of hair pulling, laughing and crying. There is the first blush of love, sweet with butterflies in flight in your stomach. Then there is deeper love, after a first (or fiftieth) argument that comes with heart thumping, maddening anger, frustration and yet...enduring love.

I love how love changes with time, aging and becoming clearer, more defined. I find I love my husband in spite of his quirks and he loves me in spite of my mood swings. I want to be the couple who are in their nineties and still crazy in love-you know the ones-laughing together, holding hands. One day at Wal-mart I saw an older man and his wife and they were pushing their cart together. He had his arm around her waist then ( I had to giggle here) he let his hand fall to pat her bottom! It was fabulous!! They were so in love! How do we do this? How do we make the excitement and blush of love endure? I find I am so tired and irritated to laugh with my husband. I find I am so touched-out by children that a pat on my rear is NOT something to laugh at, but to scold for. I realized I have lost my flirt when I read this post. Uggh! How to get it back? Hmmm...I'd love ideas...as, I'm sure, would my husband.

I'll leave you with a song I love...one that makes me dance around my house and feel butterflies in hopes my husband hears this song and thinks of me... Hey, Soul Sister

Ahhh, I l.o.v.e. that song!! Thanks for posting it and letting to me listen to it again and again and well...you get the picture. ;) Thank you so much for posting today! It is such a blah day and this post was so HAPPY that it makes me smile. I agree, I love LOVE! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I love loving the special people in my life. Thanks for the reminder to cherish those who make life worth it.
P.S...when YOU find YOUR flirt...let ME know how you did it. I'm just too tired to bat those lashes, if you get my drift. ;)

I absolutely ADORE that song. It's my new fave. My blog playlist has a tendency to stop on it often and I don't mind one little bit. It made me dance around my kitchen too. {ask my kids if you don't believe me ;)} mmmm so fab.

This love of love must be a bit hereditary 'cause I'm definitely the same way. Anything remotely romantic or mushy in all its forms is my cup of tea.

I DO need to get my flirt back too (as the post attested to). Honestly, I think frequent dates are one of the answers...which is unfortunate because those are REALLY difficult to pull off sometimes. Spencer and I need to be better about making nights at home more date-like too, I think. We've gotten kind of crappy about that. Other suggestion...long, passionate kisses. And no thinking about the need to do laundry/mop/shower allowed! (unless, of course, your hubby is invited to participate in that last one ;)

I LOVE your LOVE post. I can so relate on all your points. I want to be one of those old couples too. Mike does crazy things like that or he'll come in and dip me down to kiss me when he gets home and I get so irritated and say something like,"Stop being silly, I'm trying to make dinner." Then I wonder why he won't be more romantic...hmmm....
I'm with Steph, when you find your FLIRT, let me know how you did it. Thanks for posting and giving me something to think about.

some age old tricks:

think about the first time you saw him in the romantic sense, and giggle...then pinch his butt!

ruffle his hair while you pass him...on your way to the room ;)

or nudge him under the table, and when he looks your way... bat your eyes and hum.

they sound cheesy...but they really work!

hope that helps!

Love makes life so sweet! It enriches those who receive it and blesses those who give it.

I also adore the song "Hey, Soul Sister"; it's one of my new favs.

What a great post! I love love too! I am a huge romantic. I find giving my husband cards is a good way for me to remind him I'm still in love with him and a good way to remind myself how much I love him. He knows the cards are my way of saying "even if I don't like the physical touch right now you still touch my heart."

http://www.5lovelanguages.com/ Have you ever heard of the Five Love Languages? It's an awesome book, and they have an on-line quiz you can take to get an idea of what kind of love you are. The key is to find out what kind you are and what kind Kit is. Everyone is different, that's why a pat on the bum means love for one person and for another it's groping and evasive. Once you find out what kind you both are it gives tips on how to show love more effectively. They even have a version for children. I highly recommend them both!
